There is likely to be a Roman settlement in the vicinity of this field.
Exeter Archaeology, 2002, Archaeological Assessment of a Proposed Development at Feniton Mill, Feniton, 6 (Report - Assessment). SDV338788.
A single sherd of Roman pottery was found at this location during fieldwalking prior to the construction of the new A30. This and other evidence has led to the suggestion that there ws probably a Romano British settlement in the area, possibly close to the river crossing.
