Full description
Pye, A. R., 1991, Plymouth Defences Survey (Un-published). SDV145577.
Site visit 12th December 1991. Bottle-shaped concrete blockhouse, probably built circa 1914 for the local defence of Lentney Battery. Located circa 25m to north of gun position 1. Partly surrounded to the north by the remains of an unclimbable fence. It has a machine-gun port at its north-west end and rifle loops high up in the side walls. It was originally flat-roofed (perhaps corrugated-iron on rafters), and entered from south via a rock-cut stairwell. Now heavily overgrown; partly cleared by K. Rawlings (December 1991). Marked on 1977 Ordnance Survey 1:2500 plan (SX4949).
Ordnance Survey, 2013, MasterMap (Cartographic). SDV350786.
