Tree Farm. Two cottages, now farmhouse. Two cottages, now farmhouse. Late C18 or early C19. Rendered rubble, brick stacks, slate roof; attached end unit with clay tile. Probably built as two 'handed' cottages, a small, lower unit added at right end and carried part-way round back; main building has a gable entry to the left end, and back slope of roof sweeps down over wide centre section including staircases. Two storeys, 2+2 windows, all original 16-pane sashes in exposed boxes, and some early glass; centred to each pair of windows a 6-pane flush door, that to left under flat hood to moulded edge on shaped wooden brackets, and to right under a propped pent slate hood. Both set on 3 steps to height of slight plinth. Small modillion eaves cornice, gable stacks, and large centre ridge stack; further small brick stack, centre eaves at back. At left end a lean-to outbuilding sweeps round corner to ventilating plank door, and plank door in gable of main building; at right end a lower 2-storey unit with two 2-light casements at each level, 2 with glazing bars, and central 6-panel flush door. Hipped end with gable stack. Back has various 2-light glazing bar casements, including one each end to landing level. Interior not inspected, but likely to be little modified; ground windows have original panelled shutters. The building holds an important location on a right-angle bend entering the village from the west, and is a rare example in aveton of an unaltered vernacular structure.
