40 High Street was once at one time the old banqueting house and now (1967) the property of Messrs. James and Tucker, Ironmongers). It formerly had a 16th-17th century doorway with carved stop- chamfers. Now removed. The lintel and architraves were taken to The Friary, Pilton, where they stand in the hall.
