Summary

This two-span bridge is in use as a metalled road bridge. The S side is constructed of concrete slabs, with granite facing slabs, which rest on coursed granite piers. The N side comprises two crude granite 'arches' which also rest on the granite piers. These 'arches' are each formed by two long, 0.9m wide tooled granite slabs resting together with an unworked granite keystone; the E span has one pair whilst the W span has two pairs set in parallel 0.5m apart. The cutwaters may have been added at a later date. The parapets are modern.
Not a clapper bridge in the strictest sense of the term.

(SX 64687313). An ancient clapper bridge of two openings spans the River Swincombe at Sherberton. It is the only stone bridge spanning the river which carries the Hexworthy road to Sherberton. The bridge was widened for cart traffic circa 1850, and provided with a higher parapet.
