A quarry of modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1945 onwards and on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012, at Balcombe Pits Copse. The extensive former quarry, which is partly defined on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, is irregular in shape, measures approximately 184m long by 100m wide and remains visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012.
