Full description

Langham, A. F., 1963 - 1964, Lundy Quarry Railways, 26-28 (Article in Serial). SDV342265.

Sleeper grooves at 3 feet internals and 4 feet 3 inches long. Probably a 2 foot guage. Railbed made up between sleepers to create a smoother path for horses. The tramway extended up to the plateau where there was a terminus for changing horses or a loading site for heavy materials brought along the island road.

A railway track terraced into the slope of the cliffs, it had spurs into quarry workings, spoilheaps along its length and sidings on the terrace at the south end. Other details: 101,083.
