Summary

Hut circle within enclosure; part of the settlement to the south of the road. The hut circle is attached to the east wall of the enclosure, and is terraced into the hill slope and is of the simple plan and double orthostat walling type. The interior measures 6.4 metres in diameter and is defined by a 2.4 metre wide wall standing up to 0.9 metres high. A west-facing gap in the surrounding wall may represent the original doorway.

Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1950, SX57SE19 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV219145.

(21/11/1950) Hut circle ll (SX 5548 7503) measures 8.5 metres in diameter, composed of huge granite boulders set on edge on north and east sides, west and south sides are double walled. There is an entrance the south side and there may be another on the north-western side where there is a gap between two of the large stones. Condition very good.

Hut circle number 16 (SX55487503) is located within an enclosure. Measures 6.9 metres in diameter internally and walls survive to a height of 0.8 metres and width of 1.3 metres. This circle adjoins enclosure.
