Fieldname 'blacklands' in tithe apportionment book number 462 (tm/ta).

Vis=26/08/1992 (simpson and noble) a gradually sloping pasture field. The northern hedge boundary of the lane running along the southern edge of the field has been removed. The farmer said there used to be an uneven rough area in the sw corner of the field, of about a quarter of an acre which was probably flattened during the war. There was also a marlpit in the ne corner of the field. The eastern field boundary has been removed but is just visible as a scar. The field was ploughed in the 2nd world war, the farmer didn't notice anything unusual. It hasn't been ploughed since.
