Summary

Immediately to the s of ventiford basin (sx87sw/167) is an iron sluice gate controlling the flow of a stream which is currently culverted under the canal. As this is set within the canal bed it presumably dates from after the abandoment of this stretch of canal in the late 1860s (pye).
