Area of limestone cobbles circa 2m by 3m revealed at a depth of 3ft during construction work. Tithe map of 1840 names the site as "machine court barn etc" with "machine orchard" w of it and a building at the s end.1861 os 25" map shows the building still in existence, but the barn in ruins. It is probable that the cobbles formed part of the courtyard of this small industrial unit, which was converted to orchard by 1894 (gallant).
