'Petoe Quarry' shown on 19th century map as a large irregular shaped feature on the east side of the road with two limekilns within it.

Cotswold Archaeology, 2001, Fishacre to Lyneham Natural Gas Pipeline: Archaeological Fieldwalking and Field Reconnaissance Survey: Preliminary Summary, 12 (Report - Survey). SDV340217.

Remains of Petoe Quarry and kiln within the northern part of the field. The quarry was approximately 15 metres deep with dense vegeatation and tree cover. The northwestern and part of the southern field boundaries were considered to be of historic origin and were recorded during the survey. Other details: Map 4: Plot 46.
