Earthwork banks and cut features of possible medieval to post-medieval field boundaries and cultivation terraces are visible on aerial photographs of 1948 onwards, at Bolham Water. The earthworks are located on gentle southwest facing slope and comprise two broadly northeast to southwest aligned linear banks, with the northern of the two defined by a sharp turn to the east. A third section of bank is closely parallel to this bank along its northern edge. A broadly triangular shaped earthwork terrace approximately 100m in length by 20m in width is present along the western edge of the southern-most bank. A series of narrow linear cuttings or channels are also visible on the downslope on the western side of the terrace and although are of uncertain function, they may define the edges of a series of narrower terraces. The earthwork banks are themselves largely defined as field boundaries on the Parish Tithe Map of approximately 1838-48, although have passed out of use by the time of the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. The earthworks are visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2014.
