Summary

Site of a farmstead which was demolished to make way for Roadford Reservoir. The farm yard buildings were mainly 18th-19th century in date and included a cider house and a horse engine house. There was also a large late 19th century waterwheel which powered a number of different farm machines.

House and buildings recorded Nov-Dec 1984. Farmyard consists of two ranges of buildings on W side of widened farm track. The house is isolated facing away from the farmyard, on the opposite side of the track. South of the main complex is an enclosure with staddle stones and two ruined buildings. Combe Park is one of five farmsteads within the flood area of Roadford Reservoir. The farmhouse and farm yard buildings were recorded in November and December 1984.
The farmyard comprises mainly 18th and 19th century buildings of stone and cob. These include a cider house which still has an apple crusher and press, a horse engine house and and an unusual form of linhay. There is also a large late 19th century waterwheel together with some of the machinery that it powered such as millstones, a winnowing machine and chaff cutter.
