An irregularly shaped pit circa 30 by 20 metres in size was visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1947 and digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
The visible earthworks correspond with one of two adjacent pits pit shown on the OS First Edition 25 inch map and labelled as Old Marl Pit, and was therefore not transcribed by the survey. The pit is also depicted on Tithe Map for Yarcombe. The pit therefore probably passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
The earthwork was obscured by trees on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2017.
