An irregular earthwork pit, circa 33 by 15 metres, is visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014, but obscured by tree cover on the aerial photographs. It broadly corresponds with an ‘Old Chalk Pit’ depicted on late-19th century mapping and may be associated with some of the other chalk pits and limekilns in the vicinity. Map evidence indicates that it ceased operation by the end of the 19th century.
