Earthwork pits of former post-medieval to 19th century clay pits are visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the south of Abbey Mill. A cluster of thee extraction pits are visible. The southern two earthworks are irregular in shape and both measure approximately 67m in length, with the eastern of these partly depicted and labelled as 'Old clay pit’ on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. That to the north is oval in shape and measures approximately 36m in length by 31m in width. The earthworks are visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
