Medieval to 19th century earthworks associated with the former farmstead at Pen Cross are visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards. Buildings are depicted here on the Parish Tithe map of approximately 1838-48, although by the time of the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, these have been completely cleared. Aerial photographs show an earthwork cutting and platform marking the site of the former farmstead, approximately 47m in length by 27m in width, with a second cutting for an additional possible building, not depicted on historic maps, to the immediate north. The earthworks remain visible on aerial photographs of 1989.
