An irregularly shaped pit circa 30 by 14 metres in size is visible as an earthwork on the south-facing slopes to the south of Marsh, Yarcombe parish, on aerial photographs of 1948 onwards and digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The visible earthwork corresponds with, but is noticeably smaller than, an Old Clay Pit shown and labelled on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map. It is possible that the pit has been partly levelled or filled, but it seems unlikely that this was a direct consequence of road widening.
