Full description
Clarke, K. M., 1916, The Baptismal Fonts of Devon. Part 4, 307-8 (Article in Serial). SDV145498.
One of 5 similar fonts. Neatly worked cable, round rim bowl covered with round topped flutings reaching almost to the cable. Heavy band of chevron between bowl and shaft. At base is a broad cable resting on 2 shallow moundings on an octagonal plinth. Paint or whitewash seems to have been scraped off. Traces of axe dressing. Bowl of gourd shape font stands on a pavement of glazed tiles; of grey Devonian stone; no lining, late 12th century. Other details: Plate 3.
