An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. Aerial photographs of 1947 show the orchard is largely covered with fruit trees, although by 1971, these have been completely cleared, exposing a series of linear north to south and northwest to southeast aligned banks, on which the fruit trees were established. These banks occupy an area of approximately 0.54 hectares of southeast facing slope, within a single rectilinear shaped plot.
