Milestone indicated on 1932-33 and 1963 6" OS maps. Other details: 1932-33 with additions in 1938.

Site visit 30th December 2003. Milestone at True Street at site where old toll house used to be, on path on north side of road at junction of minor road to Berry Pomeroy. Inscribed 'To/Paingn/4 Miles/Torquay/8/?/?/To/Totnes/1/Mile'. Part sunken in path, the missing inscription should read Brixham 8. Dates from circa 1762. The milestones along the A385, South Brent to Paignton, were placed by the Totnes Turnpike Trust at varying times during the 18th and 19th centuries. The markers running from South Brent to Totnes are unusually small, triangular stones, which are difficult to espy. From Totnes the style of the stones changes to a more sturdy marker showing distances to Torbay's three towns. Several of the milestones are now missing.
