Name: | Quarry in Brook Wood |
---|
Summary
A small quarry at the far south of Brook Wood. The quarry covers an area of approximately 0.62 hectares and the faces are over 10m high. This quarry, which appears to have exploited a natural outcrop of killas could predate all the mining activity in the area, possibly originally providing stone for Brook Manor but it seems likely also that it could have provided a source of building material for the many stone structures at Brookwood and Wheal Emma mines (SX 76 NW 51/52) from the 1850s onwards.
