Marl pits of between post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as earthwork pits on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, at Foxhill Farm. The western of the two earthworks is sub-oval in shape, measures approximately 86m in length by 60m in width and is partly depicted as an ‘Old marl pit’ on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. That to the east is elongated in shape and measures approximately 50m in length by 18m in width. A number of marl pits are also depicted in close proximity here on the First Edition OS map. The marl pits remain visible as earthwork pits on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
