A marl pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data, on northwest facing slope to the west of Higher Lye. The irregular shaped earthwork measures approximately 35m in length by 18m in width and is partly depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. A northwest to southeast aligned linear earthwork ditch, approximately 6.5m wide, is visible from the western edge of the marl pit and may represent part of an associated feature, such as a possible drainage ditch, or indeed an entirely separate feature such as a former field boundary.
