PLYMOUTH FORTRESS SURVEY, 1992, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV27236.

Military ditch (1860's) where it turns northward just to the south-east of brownhill battery, the scarp has been revetted with dressed rubble limestone battered to an angle of about 60 degrees, very fine work. The counterscarp here is obscured by scrub and peters out. Just around the corner there is evidence of road metalling, indicating that the roadway to bovisand originally went along the bottom of the scarp at this point and continued down the trackway to the south which is depicted on the map but is now largely overgrown. To the north the sections of scarp wall shown on the os maps still survive in generally good condition.(plymouth fortress survey).
