Summary

Part of the settlement to the south of the road. Measures 4.9 metres in diameter internally and walls survive to a height of 0.5 metres and width of 2.0 metres. A 1.7 by 0.6 by 0.1 metre deep hollow within the interior of the building probably represents the site of an excavation trench dug by the Dartmoor Exploration Committee in 1895.

(21/11/1950) Hut circle O (SX 5559 7489) is of double walled type; quite a good example of this type of construction. Circle measures 6.5 metres in diameter, with a 1.5 metre wide wall remaining to a height of 0.5 metres. It is composed of fairly large slabs of rock for the inner and outer faces of the wall with a central filling of small rocks. Good condition with an entrance on the south-south-western side.

Hut circle at SX 5557 7490 within a large partially enclosed settlement. Terraced into the hill slope and is of the simple plan and double orthostat walling type. Interior is oval, 5.4 metres by 4.2 metres and is defined by a 1.5 metre wide wall standing up to 1.2 metres high. A south-south-western facing gap in the surrounding wall is lined with slabs on both sides and represents the position of a doorway. This hut forms part of a string of six huts whose linear distribution suggests that they may have once been linked together by a palisade or similar structure which now survives as a buried feature.
A 1.7 by 0.6 by 0.1 metre deep hollow within the interior of the building probably represents the site of an excavation trench dug by the Dartmoor Exploration Committee in 1895. Six huts within the settlement were excavated and all of them contained charcoal, although only two hearths were located. One or two were paved but the only artefact recovered was a flint flake.
