Site visit 28th March 2009. Milestone on A381 located circa 30 metres south of Bow Bridge, on west side of road in hedge close to road edge. Inscribed 'To/Newton/IIII/Miles' on the left hand side and 'To/Totnes/IIII/Miles' on the right. At risk of damage by hedge cutter and of being overgrown with vegetation in summer. Some chips to top edge. Unusual 'IIII' inscription with black letters and numbers. One of number of sturdy granite milestones erected by the Totnes and Bridgetown Pomeroy Turnpike Trust circa 1824-1832.
