Two irregularly shaped and adjacent pits, circa 55m and 155m long, are visible as earthworks on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The pits partly correspond with earthworks labelled as ‘Old Quarry’ depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of the late 19th century. They are therefore interpreted as post-medieval or early to mid-19th century quarries which passed out of use by the late 19th century.
