Summary

Stone hut circle within a large unenclosed stone hut circle settlement which was excavated in 1895. The building is terraced into the hillslope and is of the simple plan and double orthostat walling type. The interior of the structure measures 7.0 metres in diameter and is defined by a 2.0 metres wide wall standing up to 0.9 metres high.

24/8/1950 (SX 5823 7245) Hut J. It has an anti-chamber formed by an interior wall running west to east. The whole feature measures 9.0m in diameter. The entrance is to the west and the interior wall appears to divert to the south at two metres from the main entrance. The southern 'compartment' is very much hollowed and is 0.3m lower than the northern one. Condition very good. Height of wall of hut circle maximum 0.9m (south) and 0.4m high at north.

Thirty-six stone hut circles and an irregular aggregate field system forming part of an unenclosed stone hut circle settlement 450 metres north of Hart Tor.
Stone hut circle within a large unenclosed stone hut circle settlement. The building is terraced into the hillslope and is of the simple plan and double orthostat walling type. The interior of the structure measures 7.0 metres in diameter and is defined by a 2.0 metres wide wall standing up to 0.9 metres high. A 4.0 metres long, 2.5 metres wide and 0.25 metres deep hollow situated within the southern part of the hut is probably the result of a partial excavation in 1895 by the Dartmoor Exploration Committee. This hut is one of the largest within the settlement.

This monument includes 36 stone hut circles dispersed within an irregular aggregate field system situated on a gentle west-facing slope overlooking the valley of the River Meavy and forming part of a large unenclosed stone hut circle settlement between Hart Tor and Devil's Bridge.
