An irregularly shaped pit circa 64m across is identifiable as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017.
The visible earthwork corresponds with a quarry depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1880s 25inch First Edition map. The pit is annotated Old Quarry on the Ordnance Survey 1880s 25inch Second Edition map.
The visible earthwork is interpreted as the remains of a quarry or extractive pit of probable post-medieval to 19th century date that had ceased to be used prior to by circa 1906.
The pit visible on the lidar derived images might be larger than that depicted on the Second Edition map., possibly indicative of continued use, but the resolution of the available lidar data is too low for a confident transcription.
The pit is not visible on any aerial photographs available to the survey.
