A probable clay pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the southeast of Baxters Farm. The semi-circular shaped earthwork measures approximately 60m in length by 21m in width and abuts a track along its southern edge. The extent of the earthwork is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, although is not labelled. Clay pits are depicted in the immediate vicinity here on this map, which gives a good indication as to the likely use of this earthwork.
