Full description

Lowe, M. C., 1992, Toll houses of the Exeter Turnpike Trust, 89 (Article in Serial). SDV40109.

The Thorns Bar toll house was built in 1861 about 160 yards north of junction of the Teignmouth Road and the Newton Bushell road. It was demolished in 1884 when the Exeter Turnpike Trust came to an end. The land was bought by Lord Clifford.
