Irregularly shaped earthworkS, circa 110m long by 55m wide, are visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The visible earthworks correspond with an ‘Old Quarry’ shown in this location on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of the late 19th century. The gently undulating nature of the earthworks on lidar imagery suggest the quarry has been almost completely levelled and they are not clearly visible on other available aerial imagery owing to tree cover in this location. The post-medieval or 19th century quarry, which truncates earthwork banks defining the northeast corner of a possible prehistoric or Romano-British enclosure (MDV116786) has been transcribed using an extent of area polygon to reflect the diffuse nature of these earthworks.
