Department of Environment, 1986, Halberton, 105 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV43576.

Milestone on the Grand Western Canal. Circa 1814. Simple stone with the Roman numeral 'III' marked upon it (recording the number of miles from Tiverton which marks the terminal point of the canal); there appears to be comparatively few milestones remaining on this stretch of the canal. The Grand Western Canal was established under an act of 1796 and the Halberton section was completed in 1814.
