Full description

Anderson, I. K., 1906, 11th Report of the Dartmoor Exploration Committee, 108, hut 38a (Article in Serial). SDV337055.

Hut 38a. Adjoins hut 38 and is oblong, measuring 24 feet (7.3m) north-south, by 10 feet (3.0m). Made of very large rough stones. Entrance was at the south-west corner and fireplace at south.

Gerrard, S., 1990-2002, Monument Protection Programme. Archaeological Item Dataset., MPP 123878 (Report - Survey). SDV277946.

(30/11/1991) Rectangular one roomed structure with coursed stone walls. The interior of the structure measures 7.4m by 3m and is defined by 1.7m wide walls standing up to 1m high. Although situated in close proximity to a number of stone hut circles, this structure is unlike any other within the settlement and is more likely to be a shieling. It is possible that material from an underlying hut circle was robbed to erect this building.
Excavations by the Dartmoor Exploration Committee in 1905 revealed a fire-place in the south-west corner.

Butler, J., 1991, Dartmoor Atlas of Antiquities: Volume Two - The North, 101-102, Map 32, Figure 32.4 (Monograph). SDV219155.

Rectanglar building of 7.8 metres by 3.0 metres adjoining Hut Circle '9' at 'Watern Oke West settlement'. It has an entrance in one of the long sides. Excavations in 1905 revealed a fireplace but nothing to determine its date.
