Summary

A scatter of prehistoric flints was collected at membury castle by n. Pearce (tm 97). A total of 96 pieces was found within the ramparts of which 88 pieces are flint and 8 chert. A further 212 pieces were found on the castle ramparts of which 203 pieces are flint and 9 chert. The group includes flint: 5 scrapers, 1 denticulated flake, 17 blades, 1 possible adze; chert: 1 blade, 1 possible adze, 1 broken arrowhead (accessioned individually), 2 awls and 1 possible broken axe (emafu).
