Name:ARTEFACT SCATTER in the Parish of Membury

Summary

A scatter of prehistoric flints was collected in the field by n. Pearce (tm 444 : wheel piece). The field had not been ploughed when the flints were collected; it may have been lightly harrowed or the ground may have been exposed purely by animal grazing. A total of 545 pieces was collected of which 377 were flint, 167 chert and one piece of portland chert. The group includes, flint: 2 arrowheads and 1 possible arrowhead, 3 awls (broken), 4 notched, 36 blades; chert: 13 blades, 2 notched, 1 awl and 16 scrapers (emafu).
