Full description
Anderson, I. K., 1906, 11th Report of the Dartmoor Exploration Committee, 101-113 (Article in Serial). SDV337055.
One of a group of hut circles at Watern Oak. Hut 71; diameter 3.35 metres. Well constructed, visible entrance to east, more than 100 stones for sling, rubber, and cooking, and pottery was found.

Visited in 1992. Hut circle terraced into the hillslope. Simple plan and coursed walling type. Interior measures 4.3 metres in diameter and is defined by a 1.4 metres wide wall standing up to 0.8 metres high. A large earthfast rock lies in the centre of the hut and rubble lies along the west side. The doorway faces east and survives as a buried feature below rubble. Excavations by the Dartmoor Exploration Committee in 1905, recovered over a hundred sling, rubber and cooking stones and a number of pottery sherds.

Hut Circle '3' of 3.9 metres diameter within the 'Central group' to the east of the main Watern Oke settlement. Excavations in 1905 recovered over a hundred stones put to various uses.

This monument includes ten stone hut circles situated on a gentle south facing slope overlooking the River Tavy and forming part of the large unenclosed stone hut circle settlement at Watern Oke.
