Summary

A scatter of prehistoric flints was collected by n. Pearce in this field (the western part of which was 1015 : stake gate close in the ta). A total of 399 pieces was collected of which 153 are flint, 245 chert and 1 portland chert. The group includes flint: 25 scrapers, 16 blades, 2 fabricators, 1 arrowhead; chert: 25 scrapers, 19 blades, 3 awls, 1 axe, 2 notched blades, 1 notched flake, 1 large core, 1 hammer stone, 1 complete bulb (emafu).

Full description

Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV533.

Amendment - total of 534 pieces was collected, of which 165 are flint, 368 chert + 1 portland chert. The group includes flint: 25 scrapers, 18 blades, 2 fabricators, 1 possible arrowhead; chert: 30 scrapers, 30 blades, 3 awls, 1 axe, 5 notched blades, 8 notched flakes, 1 arrowhead, 1 large core, 1 hammerstone, 1 complete bulb. The chert arrowhead is a late neolithic broken tranchet arrowhead (separately accessioned). The axe is also separately accessioned (pearce).
