Name:Hut circle in settlement south-east of Legis Tor, Sheepstor

Summary

A free-standing stone hut circle to the west of the enclosed settlement (3367) on the south slopes of Legis Tor, The hut circle base was cut into the slope and an arced scarp marks the change in levels on the uphill side. The walls are very turf covered but an approximate internal diameter is 6m. On the south side, a pair of in-situ door posts are visible though partly buried.

22/02/1993 (SX 5722 6527) Hut circle forming part of an extensive Prehistoric settlement. Lies outside the main visible Bronze Age enclosures. Terraced into the hillslope, and of the simple plan and single orthostat walling type. Interior measures 7m in diameter and is defined by a 1.3m wide wall standing up to 0.6m high. This hut is situated at the southern end of a pillow mound.

(07/02/2005) One of four hut circles that lie within or potentially within the western, incomplete enclosure (centred SX 57246528).
SX 5724 6527. A level platform 6.0m in diameter edged with a partial ring of stones. This hut has obviously been robbed to furnish the pillow mound immediately to the north.
