Summary

Hut circle '78' of 3.2 metres diameter with walls 1.2 metres wide by up to 0.6 metres high at Watern Oke settlement. Partially excavated in 1905 when a piece of glass of unknown date was recovered.

Hut circle at Watern Oke. Hut 78; 4.57 metres diameter. Of large rough boulders. Piece of glass found (ancient/).

Visited in 1992. Hut circle terraced into the hillslope. Simple plan and coursed walling type. The interior measures 3.2 metres in diameter and is defined by a 1.2 metres wide wall standing up to 0.6 metres high. Partially excavated by the Dartmoor Exploration Committee in 1905, and this work recovered a piece of glass of uncertain date. The possibility of the glass being of Roman date should not be discounted.

This monument includes five stone hut circles situated on a gentle south facing slope overlooking the River Tavy and forming part of the large unenclosed stone hut circle settlement at Watern Oke.
