Summary

A large number of stone splitting pits lie within the hut settlement 600 metres east of Nodden Gate. These pits vary in size but average 2.5 metres in diameter and 0.4 metres deep. Two stone hut circles [133137 and 133138; MDV4634-35] have been partly damaged by two of them. These pits were produced during the search and limited quarrying of surface stone within this area and extend beyond the settlement.
