It is unclear if these post-medieval or modern quarries are associated with either of the two mines recorded in close proximity here, Devon Mine (MDV3823) to the east and Wheal Conquer (MDV51002) to the west. Only part of the photo reference is given in the transcription attributes, so the date of the photograph is not known.

Hegarty, C., Houghton, E., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2020-2021, Tamar/Lidar; A Single Source Approach to Landscape Survey and Socially Distanced Community Archaeology Area 1 (AI&M project) (Interpretation). SDV363945.

The quarry is visible as an earthwork pit on images derived from lidar data captured in 2007 and 2008, along with an additional pit to the east on the other side of the field boundary and probable spoil heaps along the northern side of both pits. This complex appears to be connected by curvilinear trackways to Wheal Conquer to the north-west, and to the road to the south-west and south. These trackways are visible as earthworks in the same location as depicted on the late-19th century maps. It is possible that this complex was associated with lead mining activities at Wheal Conquer.
