Full description

Waterhouse, R. E., Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV139351.

Very small 3-room cross passage house of 'closed' hall type. No porch. Most of the service end rebuilt since 17c. Hall is smallest recorded, with diminutive axial fireplace. Drawing room divided from hall by simple oak stud + panel screen. Newel stair to room over high end (waterhouse).

House, converted into row of cottages. Circa early c17 or earlier with later alterations. Roughcast stone rubble. Asbestos tile roof with gabled ends. Truncated rendered axial and gable end stacks. Plan: probably originally a 3 room and through passage plan, the lower end to the right and with axial hall stack backing onto passage and end stacks heating inner room and lower end room. Converted later into 3 cottages. Exterior: 2 storeys. Long asymmetrical 4 to 5 window range with various c19 and c20 casements with glazing bars. Three doorways with plank doors, at left, centre and right. At rear a small outshut. Interior: inaccessible at time of survey. Note: in the garden immediately in front of the lower right end there is an immense natural rock (doe).
