The site of a possible shaft (Site 5) identified during an assessment at Wheal Russell Mine in 2005. The feature was aligned with the Huel Russell Lode shown on Symons 1848 map. Some 19th century shafts were sited in earlier 18th century openworks and after disuse some were used as small stone quarries probably for hedging stone. The shaft was not located during the field survey but the quarry was 15 metres long by 10 metres wide. A possible horse whim was identified 10 metres south of the quarry and the area contained two lode back pits.
