Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Feature shown on 19th century map as 'Kistvaen (Remains of)'.

Worth, R. H., 1941, 60th Report on Barrows, 56 (Article in Serial). SDV302703.

National Monuments Record, 1976, SX6365, 1 (Aerial Photograph). SDV144574.

Photograph taken on 22nd April 1976.

Hankin, C. F., 1977-1979, Harford Parish Checklist (Worksheet). SDV149931.

Site visited on 18th October 1978. Situated about 200 metres inside an enclosure which extends almost to Erme Pound. A scattered circle of ten stones, all about 1 metre length, of which only the north stone is standing. The largest stone lies on the south side, and is 1.5 metres in length. There is no particular feature within the circle. At first sight this circle of stones could be taken for a cist, especially if one has just come from the cist at the head of the double stone row lower down on brown heath southwards. There is a certain resemblance. The probability of it being a robbed hut circle is however, greater.

Grinsell, L. V., 1978, Dartmoor Barrows, 139 (Article in Serial). SDV273224.

Newman, P., 2018, Erme Valley Survey data (GIS and Excel spreadsheet) (Cartographic). SDV361913.

Hut circle shown on modern mapping.

National Monuments Record, 2019, Pastscape, 441629, SX66NW25 (Website). SDV362732.

Small hut circle to the east of Erme Pound approximately 5 metres in diameter. A circle of stones at SX64026552 but with no trace of a cist, considered by Worth to be a small hut circle rather than a cist, as shown on the 1st edition Ordnace Survey map.
