'B S.' shown on 19th century map.

Butler, J., 1991, Dartmoor Atlas of Antiquities: Volume Two - The North, 217, Map 42, Site 'I' (Monograph). SDV219155.

Boundary stone 'i' in a line of stones marking the boundary between Okehampton Hamlets and Dartmoor Forest stretching from Sandy Ford to Cullever Steps. Each is inscribed 'OPB' on at least one face. Many of the stones are paired with a small slab at the foot of a tall pillar which was presumably a more easily visible replacement.

Royal Commission for the Historical Monuments of England, 1993-1998, Dartmoor Royal Forest Project, P. Newman (Report - Survey). SDV346608.

(20/09/1993) SX 60539210 Two granite boundary stones, marked on OS 1:10000 series, spaced approximately 1m apart, sited 20m north of the Blackaven Brook, 30m west of Cullever Steps. The stones mark the boundary between Dartmoor Forest and Belstone Parish.
The larger stone has tool marked edges and is 1.5m high with the letters OP and B inscribed on the eastern face in letters 0.1m high.
The smaller stone has a more weathered appearance and stands to 0.4m high. This stone also has the letters OP and B inscribed in letters 0.1m high on the eastern face.
The letters probably stand for 'Okehampton Parish' and 'Belstone'.
The larger stone is likely to be a replacement for the smaller, older stone, though no explanation is apparent as to why the older stone was not removed.

The boundary now runs to the east of these stones.
