Cropmarks of ditches are visible.
Many of the aerial photographs consulted are copies of DAPs held by the Historic England Archive. These have been recorded here as separate sources as there is a possibility that variations in processing could result in images on which archaeological features show differently than on the original images.

Cropmarks of linear and curvilinear ditches approximately 2m wide are visible on aerial photographs of 1992, on the south-west facing slopes immediately north of Higher Exeter Road, Teignmouth.
The ditches define a roughly rectilinear enclosed area approximately 44m long, aligned roughly north-west to south-east. The southern edge of the enclosure probably falls under the verge of Higher Exeter Road and cannot be seen, but the width of the enclosure can be estimated at circa 30m.
Within the enclosed area, similar cropmark ditches define a second rectilinear enclosed area circa 28m long by 17m wide is visible. A break in the south-west end may be evidence of an entrance to the inner enclosure. The cropmarks of the inner enclosed area are less well defined, possibly indicative of greater disturbance or terracing into the combe slope.
Previous interpretations describe this site as a single double ditched enclosure. The distance between the inner and outer ditches (4 to 7m) is significant for the scale of the enclosure and might be more suggestive of an enclosure with functionally discrete inner and outer compounds, probably of later prehistoric date.
Narrow linear ditches to the north-east may be associated with the enclosure.
