Wakeham, C., 2016, Report on an Audit of Archaeological Features and Structures Relating to Railways and Tramways on Dartmoor Phase 1, DR+T_GWRP_075-76 (Report - Assessment). SDV360397.

[DR+T_GWRP_075] Quarry excavation at SX 55005 71116. Sub-circular quarry dug into the north-west facing slope of the moor on the south-east side of the Princetown Branch track bed. It lies c.3.5m from the track bed and has been dug to a depth of up to c.2m. It measures, internally, c.15m (north-east by south-west) by c.15-20m. The recurring drainage channel along the higher side of the railway track bed is well defined as it passes between quarry mouth and track bed. There is a possible post hole (DR+T_GWRP_076) close by, by the north-east side of the quarry mouth.
The excavation is grassed over and seems relatively stable despite considerable bracken encroachment.
DR+T_GWRP_076] Post hole (possible) at SX 55008 71123.
Apparent post hole set about 3m back from the southeast side of the Princetown Branch track bed. It is evident as a shallow circular dent, c.0.5m diameter and c.0.15m depth, near the mouth of a quarry excavation (DR+T_GWRP_075). Its purpose is unclear, although it may simply have been for a fence post. It is in fair condition.
